The Yankees let one slip away today but fortunately the O’s did as well. We are down to the final ten games of the season with a one game lead. The schedule certainly favors the Yankees being able to get a playoff spot with remaining games being against the Twins,Jays and Red Sox. The Orioles also face the Red Sox and Jays but finish up against the Rays. That Final series may be relevant if the Rays can win a couple between now and then. I could talk about how we are doing as a whole or how we are n0t doing but I would rather just talk about Ichiro Suzuki. How huge has he been for the Yankees lately? Over his last seven games he is batting .583 going 14 for 24 with 2 HR and 9 RBIs and 7 stolen bases. Is a case being made for bringing Ichiro back for an encore next season? I think so. Swisher will command a big deal that the Yankees won’t want to pay and Ichiro could be brought back for a one year deal.
Tomorrow the Yankees will face the Twins as we will see Andy Pettitte back on the mound to face Liam Hendricks. Pettitte will likely have an expanded pitch count as he attempts to regain his sea legs as we make the push to the playoffs
