David Phelps did not look good and it appeared that the Yankees were bound to lose another game against the second place Baltimore Orioles. Until the Seventh inning that is. Prior to this unorthodox comeback only a Homer from Robinson Cano was keeping the Yankees from getting shut out. The rally started with a single from Pearce and a walk to Nix. Then fresh up from the farm Eduardo Nunez hit a run scoring single putting the tying run on third and the go ahead run on second, Ichiro walked to load the bases for Jeter who came back from 0-2 against a guy throwing 98 mph to work a walk that tied the game at three. Nick Swisher hit a routine GB to short that was bobbled by JJ Hardy and allowed the wining run to score.
Yes it wasn’t exactly the Bombers wining with the long ball, but we will put this one under desperately needed win, Their is a huge difference between a three game lead and a one game lead in the division. The Yankees will have an opportunity to make it a successful series this afternoon with Phil Hughes taking the mound against Chris Tillman. Hughes has pitched well lately and the Yankees seem to play well in day games so lets hope the stars align for this one and it equals another Yankees win.
