Derek Lowe in his first game as a Yankee pitched fout shit out innings and recorded his first save in eleven years. Not a bad day at the office eh. Hat tip to Brian Cashman if Lowe becomes lightning in a bottle. David Phelps started the game and he pitched well also giving up just two earned runs on six hits over five innings with three stike outs. In my opinion Lowe was just dominent the last four innings. Does this give him the opertunity to start over Phelps next time around? In my opinion YES!!! Lowes although has pitched out of the pen before has more experiance as a starter and Phelps has been so good in the long relief role you have to give Lowe a shot. I would even go as far to say that Lowe could pitch his way onto the post season roster as the number four starter if he continues to pitch like that. Howerver that would have to coinside with the collapse of either Hughes or Nova, which isnt unlikely considering how they have pitched of late. I acutally feel most comfortable with this as my post season rotation. 1. Sabathia 2. Pettitte 3. Kudora 4.Lowe/Hughes. Nova’s record is the result of alot of run support not good pitching as he has given up 165 hits in 145 innings with an era just shy of five. Probably not going sown like that by hey you never know.
