The Yankees swept the Mets in dramatic fashion with a walk off bottom of the ninth Homer from Russell Martin to seal the 5-4 victory it was his second of the game. So the Yankees are a half game behind the Rays and tied in the loss column at 9 games over .500 while the Red Sox have fallen to one game under .500 and six games back. Yes it is possible the Sox could climb back into the race in no time but they are not playing good baseball and only wining three out of their last ten is not going to help their case. Especially With the  Yankees being on fire, winners of four straight and eight of their last ten. Although Pettite didn’t factor in today’s win he still pitched great going six innings only giving up two earned runs and striking out eight. Did anyone I mean anyone think he was going to be this good? I would say he has pitched his way into the number two spot in the rotation and might even be pitching better than Sabathia right now.  Soriano came in and tried for his tenth save and blew it. Its not often you see a closer get taken out of the game but he just didn’t have his stuff today. Every thing was flat and the Mets drilled him for three hits and the game tying run. Boon Logan came in and with a big K got out of the Jam and eventually got the win.

The bombers are on the road to Atlanta tomorrow where the 7-2 Ivan Nova will pitch against the youngster Randall Delgato whom has pitched a bit better of late but throws a lot of pitches and hasn’t been in the seventh inning since May 3rd.  Both the Braves and the Yankees have been Red hot lately, this is going to be a huge test for the bombers and they have to do it national leauge style.  So on to turner field we go and make sure you follow us on twitter at Yankeesmagazine for all the latest bombers news.
