Winners of five straight games the NY Yankees have gone from last place to 2.5 games out of first leaving Toronto and Boston in the rear view mirror. With their sights set on Baltimore and Tampa now the Yanks travel to LA for a memorial day show down between Phil Hughes (who started the win streak) and Jared Weaver (who has been nearly unhittable)

I’m not going to lie, beating Weaver is a tall order for any team and the Yankees best chance is to use the same formula that they always use. Be patient at the plate, make him throw a lot of pitches, and hit some home runs.  The Yankees offence is starting to look like the team we all signed up to see and it has started with Mark Texeria. Tex proclaimed that he was pressing and trying to be a different type of hitter than usual. Mark stated that he was going to relax and just go back to t he way he used to hit and man has it worked he has been knocking the cover off the ball. Its hard to shift against him when he is hitting it over the fence or off the wall.

KC and Oakland are good cities to start gaining some confidence but lets be real these are not the Rangers or the Angels. If the Yankees can continue their winning ways through LA the schedule doesn’t get any easier as they look ahead to Detroit and Tampa before interleague play begins a week from Friday.

Tuesday night Im going on the Road to watch your Scranton Yankees take on the Toledo Mud Hens so I will have a complete down on the farm report for you with as good of pictures as my Iphone will allow.
