‘It seems that the Yankees search for bench players continues as they are discussing a deal with Veteran Bill Hall.
Hall 33 is a nine year veteran who has spent time with the Brewers, Red Sox, Astros, Mariners and Giants is a Utility specialist that can play all over the infield. He occasionally has had some pop in his bat as he showed with the Red Sox in 2010 with 18 HR. Beyond the occasional HR his plus side has been his fielding, not his hitting as he does not hit for average. Hall can play 2nd,SS,and 3rd as well as all three outfield positions.
Hall hits with Yankees batting coach Kevin Long in the off season and would likely only be offered a minor league deal with an invite to spring training with a shot at a bench spot.
I understand the Yankees wanting to make a low risk move like this but I’m holding out hope for them resigning Eric Chavez . I felt he was a good fit for resting Alex Rodriguez and was hitting well before a freak injury ended his season.
Hall is known to be a good guy in the clubhouse but I feel he would be an unnecessary luxury with Nunez and Chavez able to cover these same positions with more consistent hitting. Plus for some odd reason I am having trouble overcoming his connection to the Red Sox in 2010. Not sure why I don’t like you Bill Hall I just don’t.
