Ok so its been the slowest off-season I can remember. This is primarily because the Yankees don’t need to add a lot to already round out their Championship Caliper roster. The Yankees have signed Jason Nix to a minor league deal with an invitation to spring training. Nix 29 spent last year with the Blue Jays (mostly in AAA) I suspect he is there to compete for the utility infielder position. He can play short, second and both corner outfield positions.  He hit double-digit HR in 2008 and 2009 but strikes out a ton.

The Yankees offered 35-year-old Freddie Garcia arbitration and are nearing a one year deal. Considering his numbers last season this sounds like a solid move as a back of the rotation starter. Look for the Yankees to still add someone to fill that number two or three spot. So right now the rotation looks like this. Sabathia,Nova,Burnett,Hughes,Garcia.  However I feel like Hughes might be trade bait if they are not able to find a number two guy in free agency.

I hope you all have a great Thanksgiving and follow us on Twitter at Yankeesmagazine.
