The overwhelming factor in no opting out of his contract was that he and his family love NY, Love the Yankees and love the money. CC agreed to a deal that will keep him in pinstripes thru 2016 and contains a club vesting option for a sixth year. The deal is said to be worth 122 million dollars over the next five years. I will give a detailed breakdown of the contract as soon as all the details are made public.  The Yankees can breathe a sigh of relief now that they have their ace locked up for many years to come. This comes on the heels of Brian Cashman agreeing to a new contract and the Yankees picking up contract options on Robinson Cano and Nick Swisher. Cano was a no brainer but there was some doubts about Swisher. Still would not surprise me if the traded Swish but we will see. They were definitely showing some interest in signing Carlos Beltran.

The Yankees will now turn there attention to signing a number two type starter. They do not appear to be close to signing anyone however they have expressed interest in bidding on Yu Darvish should he be posted and CJ Wilson’s name also keeps popping up. As soon as anything appears to be more than a rumor  I will let you know.
