The Yankees have ended their mini losing streak with a 6-5 win over the Angels that put them up 3.5 games over the sliding Red Sox.

A costly fielding error by the Angels led to the victory but the Yankees would have at least tied the game without the error. Either way , coming from behind will hopefully be a spark for the Yankees who had lost their four previous starts. When I say the Red Sox are sliding I mean they are really sliding. During the Yankees slide it was lack of offence, now we all know that offence is not going to be the Yankees Achilles heel. The Red Sox however are not pitching well and are getting hammered. They have allowed the Rays to creep back into the wildcard race. There is a realistic possibility with the way the schedule is laid out that the Red Sox are left behind in the playoff hunt and the Rays overtake their spot. Lets not get ahead of our self though.

The Yankees open a series tonight against the light hitting Mariners, which could lead to a confidence boost down the stretch. Especially if they can get a victory over King Felix tonight with Phil Hughes on the mound. 17 days left and its time to start thinking about what the playoff roster should look like. Has Montero hit himself onto the Roster? Will Romaine be added due to an injured Cervelli? Will Posada be on the roster at all? Who will be the starting four pitchers? Think about these things and tell us your thoughts in the comments we would love to hear from you. Also don’t forget to follow us on Twitter at Yankees Magazine.
