A rain soaked 5-3 victory for the Yankees that because of rain delays took them till 2am. This will make a short turn around for tomorrows 1pm game.

Phil Hughes with his rotation spot potentially on the line pitched six solid inning giving up two runs on five hits and striking out five. His only blemish was a two run homer to Matt Wieters.

The Yankees got their scoring via the long ball with HR’s from Posada, Cervelli and Gardner. A couple of interesting calls tonight by the umps. Well really only one that was missed. They reviewed the Cervelli HR but they got that one right. The one they messed up was when Posada reached first base on an error and they said that he made a turn toward second base and was tagged out returning to the base. In actuality he was in foul territory and was just walking back to first. you have to turn around to walk back to the base and to say that this was a move towards second was dumb. But all and all it didn’t have an effect on the game. Mariano Rivera got save number 598 just four away from becoming the all time saves leader. Ok everybody go to bed and we will see you at one tomorrow for more Yankees baseball as AJ Burnett will get another chance to show why he should be the one to stay in the rotation.
