After a day off to reflect on a great season opener Aj Burnett, who has been fighting the flu, gets the start in game two. He will be opposed by Brad Penny from the Tigers who has had varied levels of success over the past couple of years including an implosion with the Red Sox. The Yankees will present the same line-up as they did in the opener :

1. Gardner LF
2. Jeter SS
3. Teixeira 1B
4. Rodriguez 3B
5. Cano 2B
6. Swisher RF
7. Posada DH
8. Granderson CF
9. Martin C

Some things to watch. Penny doesn’t have a particularly good move to the plate or a good record of holding base runners. Watch for the Yankees to be stealing if they get on base. Especially watch Gardner, Granderson and apparently Martin. Speaking of Martin a big part of AJ’s success or failures this season will rest on his relationship with Russell Martin. If AJ doesn’t shake him off a lot and has success this could foreshadow a bounce-back year for him. Don’t get me wrong it’s only one game of probably 30 he will start so don’t take to much into it but good communication with his new catcher could have a long term benefit.
I personally would like to see some more power from the middle of the order which is always a good sign. If Tex,A-rod and Cano get hot early in the season it will spell trouble for other teams in the AL East. Ill Have full post game wrap up late tonight with all kinds of in-depth analysis.
