The Yankees are ready to go. The Yankees had what I would consider an average offseason. The main victory has been the reconstruction of the bull-pen. The additions of Pedro Feliciano and Rafeal Soriano has made the Yankees pen the best in the league. (at least on paper) Everyone seems concerned about the Rotation but I do not share this concern. assuming that AJ Burnett has a bounce back season the Yanks will have one of the better rotations in the AL. You may wonder how I can be so confident about that. First of all I am a believer in Ivan Nova. I think he has great stuff and will only be better this season than he was last. At 6’4 210 lbs he is a beast of a pitcher. He is only 24 years old and has great stuff. If he lives up to his potential he could be  an important part of the rotation for many years to come. So if I am on the mark here a rotation of CC,Burnett,Hughes,Nova is a potent top four. That fifth spot is the wild card. I would have to give the advantage at this point to Freddy Garcia who had a pretty decent season last year with the white sox.He was 12-6 with a 4.64 ERA He threw 157 innings over 28 games. Lets look at what the fifth starters in the AL East did last season.

Boston 9-6  4.68  153 inning out of Dice K

Toronto  1-5  5.79  Jesse Litsch

Tampa 12-8 4.39 Jeff Niemann

Baltimore 6-6 4.68 Jake Arrieta . Last season only the Rays got decent production out of the bottom of their rotation in the AL East. Hopefully this makes you feel a little better about the Yankees Rotation. With the potential of a decent rotation and the probability of a lock down bullpen and the near certainty of a powerhouse offence you have to feel pretty confident of the Yankees chances of  winning the east and the American league. The Yankees most recently added Ronnie Belliard and Eric Chavez to compete for bench roles as backup infielders. Both are veterans capable of playing multiple positions and hitting with a bit more pop than Pena  but personally I like Nunez as the backup infielder he is a talented young man who given the opportunity should perform well.
