Well this was no surprise as we have been hearing for weeks that the team had an interest in him. The deal is worth 2 million dollars for one year with the possibility of another 1.2 million in incentives to be announced later. Jones,33 is not the superstar he once was with the Braves back when he was hitting the cover off the ball to the tune of 30+ HR a year and 100 RBI to last season hitting a respectable 19 HR last season with the White Sox after going down the tank from 2007 to 2009. But as a forth outfielder he still shows solid defence and a decent amount of power. He hits decent against lefties and certainly is a defensive improvement over Marcus Thames or Johnny Damon. Who knows maybe with a little instruction from Kevin Long the old Andruw Jones might reappear.

All and all I think its a good fit for the Yankees hes a likeable guy that will look good in pinstripes. Welcome to the party Mr. Jones we hope you are anything like you used to be.
