1144b9f671166011d90e6a70670055a6 They don’t give up and they don’t get rattled. That is why the Yankees are so great. The Yankees had an incredible come from behind 6-5 victory over the Rangers to take a 1-0 lead in the best of seven ACLS.

Ok lets break it down, Sabathia was not good, ok he wash t horrible. Even the best of the best have a bad day and this was Sabathia’s. If there was one big play that made a huge difference for him it was tagging out a runner trying to score from third on a pass ball. The ball bounced off the back stop right back to Posada who flipped it to a charging CC who was just able to tag the runners arm before his foot hit the plate. Sabathia only lasted four innings and gave up five runs and at that point many thought it was over with the Rangers having a 5-0 lead. Joba Chamberlain and Dustin Mosley came in and held the Rangers scoreless for three innings. This gave the Yankees the opportunity to get something going. In the sixth Robinson Cano hit a home run to put the Yankees on the Board 5-1. In the Seventh Brett Gardner led off with a hustling infield single which saw his head first slide just beat the first baseman to the bag. Jeter then hit a double scoring Gardner from first. 5-2, with Jeter on Second. The Rangers brought in Darren Oliver who walked Swisher and Tex to load the Bases with nobody out. O’day came in to Face Arod who answered with a two run hit making it 5-4. O’Days day was done as Rapanda came in and who gave up the game tying hit to Cano on his very first and last pitch, 5-5. One more RBI hit for Marcus Thames  against Holland  put the game at 6-5. After that it was all over but the crying. Kerry wood came on for the Hold in the bottom of the inning and Mariano Rivera with the Save in the ninth as the Yankees broke the Rangers spirit.

I don’t care what Rangers head coach Ron Washington said in the post game interview, this is the kind of loss that sticks with you. It stings and it carries over to the next day. A inexperienced team like the Rangers will have a tough time coming out tomorrow against Phil Hughes and tying up the series. Look for the Yankees to go back to NY with a 2-0 lead in this best of seven.
