Due to Hughes previous successes in Arlington and his favorable road record, the Bombers are going with Phil Hughes in game two of the ALCS.

On the Road Phil has only allowed 5 HR in 70 innings compared to 20 at Yankee stadium in 106 innings. Hughes very first major league win was against Texas where he took a no hitter into the 7th inning before pulling a hamstring with Mark Teixeira( then a ranger)  at the plate.

The Yankees will start Andy Pettitte in game three at the stadium bit in my opinion should have held off on this announcement and this is why.

If the Yankees come out of Texas with a 2-0 lead why not start AJ in game three against Lee. Kind of a sacrificial lamb kind of thing. If by some miracle Aj were to Win and the Yankees were to go up 3-0 you would have Pettitte and CC back to back to try and close it out. That’s a hell of a 1-2 punch. However if the Yankees come out of Texas 0-2 or 1-1 yea you got to start Andy game three. In game four if the Yankees are down 0-3 there is no way in hell you give the ball to AJ facing elimination. CC will take the ball on short rest and at 1-3 you give it back to Phil. The only way AJ should pitch is if the Yankees are up possibly if its 1-2  but lets hope the Yankees aren’t put in that situation.

The Rangers have some pitching concerns of their own as their number two starter Colby Lewis and their number four starter Tommy Hunter both had poor showings against the Rays, Lewis only going 4 innings and Hunter 5 .

The Good news is the Yankees offence woke up at the right time hitting .314 scoring 17 runs and 11 extra base hits in the three game sweep of the Twins.

Here’s to hoping that the extra time off between series hasn’t cooled the Yankee hitting.  Cheers
