The Yankees took three out of four games over the weekend from the lowly Royals and now get ready for a eight game road trip. Alex Rodriguez is still one Homer away from that elusive 600 but more importantly we are waiting to see if he is alright after being struck in the forearm by a high fastball with the bases loaded in the eighth inning. The Yankees outscored Kansas City 36 to 13 over the last four days and that my friends is a Royal beating. ( ok it was a bad pun) Mark Texeria is Red hot of late as well most of the Yankees line-up. Which today included Curtis Granderson hitting a pair of Home Runs and Mark Texieria with another Muti Hit game. Robinson Cano also got his 1000 career hit which only makes you Marvel at the fact that Jeter will be closing in on 3000 during his next contract and there is an outside chance that he may pass Pete Rose for the most hits of all time. I have to Believe that A-Rod will pass Barry Bonds in HR if he can stay healthy since he will be the Youngest player to hit 600 in history.
It looked like the Yankees were looking to make a trade for Dan Haren with the Diamondbacks but once again someone else came up with the bigger package keeping another quality pitcher away from the Bombers. This time it was the Angels that came up with a four player deal that will keep Dan on the west coast. I have to believe that contrary to what everyone thinks the Yankees will still make a deal of some sort for a starting pitcher. Haren wasn’t even the best availible. Personally I believe Roy Oswalt would look pretty good in pinstripes but the price would be high considering he has another year and an option on his deal.
So the Yankees leave KC tonight and head out to play a much better team in Cleveland. ( That was sarcasm) Then its down to Tampa to hopefully put the nail in the coffin that is the American league east and start thinking about getting ready for the stretch run to the Playoffs.
