The brooms were out in the Bronx today and a sweep is what they got as the hometown Yankees disposed of the Texas Rangers 5-2. Completing the series sweep and outsoring the hapless Rangers 16-7.The Rangers are just horible or at least they looked that way as thier sloppy play not only in this game but in all three games was at times tough to watch.

Andy Pettitte is off to a great start going eight full innings today allowing just two runs on six hits. Mariano rivera came in and threw a perfect ninth inning striking out two of the three batters he faced for his fifth save of the season. Pettitte didn’t have his good stuff early but got better during the 5-7th inning. Offensively for the Yankees Mark Texieria finally got his first HR which will hopefully help him break out of his awful slump. Brett Gardner went 2 for 3 with a stolen base and has his BA back up over .300. Rimero Pena filling in for Derek Jeter, who has a head cold, had a two out two RBI hit that was huge. Posada also offered a HR and Cano had a sac fly.

Monday is a day off than Its off to the west coast for a series vs Oakland. They will have a well rested bull pen and they may need it as they send Javier Vazquez back to the mound seeking his first win of the season,
