The first two games of the season have not had stellar performances from their starting pitching but with a little bit of sloppy play by Boston and a more effective pen than the day before the Yankees took one back with a 6-4 victory.

Boston had taken an early 3-1 lead with a Home Run from Victor Martienez but the Yankees battled back with three runs in the fifth to take a 4-3 lead. The Red Sox came right back with another RBI from Martienez tying it up at four where it would stay until Marco Scutero committed an error on a routine ground ball that loaded the bases in the eigth for Nick Johnson the king of OBP who drew a walk bringing in the wining run.The Yankees added an insurance run in the ninth with Robinson Cano’s first home run of the year,

Joba came in and showed why he belongs in the bull pen and stuck out two batters and Mariano Rivera nailed it down in the ninth.

Tomorrow It will be Andy Pettitte vs New Red Sox Starter John Lackey for the rubber match @ 7pm on the Yes network.
