If you read my pre game post you may have been thinking my prediction could have come true in the sixth inning when Arod came up in a tie game with Tex on base. As the pitch flew off the bat I thought holy shit could I have called this before the game even started? But then just as the Pesky pole had give Posada a Home run earlier the Green Monster took one away from Arod. However the two base runners would eventually be batted in still preserving the 7-5 prediction I had thrown out there. That was until With a runner on third and one out Sabathia was pulled from the game in favor of Robertson. I personally would have walked Beltre to set up the DP but that wasn’t in the Yankees plans as Beltre hit a single which turned out to be the game winner in this 9-7 Red Sox’s  Victory.

Sabathia pitched into the sixth and looked better than opening day last year when he didn’t make it out of the fifth.  Chan Ho Park had a strike out but other than that seemed to be throwing batting practice and Joba didn’t look awful but lacked the fire that he usually has.

Offensively for the Yankees it was a good day. Nick Johnson walked twice and multi hit games came from Posada, Gardner, Cano and Jeter. It was funny that they pointed out after Gardner’s second hit that he was leading the league in batting. Gardner also swiped Home plate as part of a double steal and Jeter was on the other half of that taking second.

As good as CC looked Beckett looked that bad giving up 2 HR and 5 runs on 8 hits in four and two thirds.  Today is a day off but we will be back tomorrow with Game two.
