Joe Girardi told his pitchers today that from now on their results count. After hearing this news Phil Hughes responded first throwing four scoreless innings. At this point Phil has to be given the early advantage in the race for the fifth starter spot.

I am still routing for Alfredo Aceves, I think he has better stuff than any of the other candidates. All he does is throw strikes. But one cannot discount the results that Hughes got today ,he was fabulous. AJ Burnett was not quite as happy with the results he got today. In two and a third innings he gave up one run on two hits and walked four. AJ was most disappointed in his fastball, stating that it sets the table for all of his other stuff.

Posada stated that he had the best change-up he has ever had. Burnett is his own worst critic and stated that he would need to work on his two seamer in his next bull-pen. Mariano Rivera also got some work for the first time in the Yankees 4-1 Victory over the Astros . Rivera loaded the bases but did not let a run score. Mark Texieria also seems to be getting his stroke back hitting his second home run of the spring.
