The Yankees got beat up for the second day in a row. After losing to the Rays 12-7 yeasterday the Bombers were beat up again at the hand of the Blue Jays 9-1.

Im already starting to get e-mails from panic striken fans who think that the season is lost before it begins. Let me reiterate “ITS ONLY SPRING TRAINING”  The Purpose of spring training is to let the inexperienced Rookies a chance to play and to let the regulars start to build up some innings to shake off the rust.

One thing that is worth noteing of todays game was that Fransisco Cervelli had to leave the game in the third inning after being hit in the head by a wild pitch.  Cervelli was taken to the hospital for a CT scan as a precaution. Cervelli will get a couple of days off with what is being called a minor concussion. He had a similar injury back in the fall league when he was hit in the head by a back swing.

Manager Joe Girardi stated that he will talk to Cervelli and see how it goes. He will just need to be honest about how he feels. Spring training seems to be bad luck for Fransisco as he broke his hand in the spring of 2008 in a collision at the plate against the Rays.  Mike Rivera will likely see more time until Cervelli is 100%.

Sunday the Yankees will face the Twins at 1:05 Line ups and pitchers are TBA

Other notes:  Nick Johnson took batting practice today and said he felt good and could return to the line-up very soon

Kai Igawa has been pitching very well and could earn himself a spot in the bull pen. The same could be said for Boone Logan who has been lights out so far this spring. Mark Melancon has been showing off his nasty curve ball during his early bid for a bull-pen spot as well.
