The Yankees magic number remains at one to clinch their 40th pennant. Game six had been postponed due to  weather but tonight is cool and dry and nothing stands in the way of the Yankees going to the world series. Well except maybe the Angels. The Yankees stick with their original plan of having Andy Pettite start and the Angels are sticking with Joe Saunders.

The day off certainly makes everyone a little more rested and may benefit the Angels if there is a game seven as they may use Lachey on short rest. I’m a bit surprised the Yankees didn’t go with Sabathia tonight but Pettite has been in this spot so many times its hard to argue with the logic of going with the best pitcher in post season history. Here is a look at the starting line-ups:

Derek Jeter SS
Johnny Damon LF
Mark Teixeira 1B
Alex Rodriguez 3B
Jorge Posada C
Hideki Matsui DH
Robinson Cano 2B
Nick Swisher RF
Melky Cabrera CF

Pitching: LHP Andy Pettitte (1-0, 2.84 ERA in postseason)

Chone Figgins 3B
Bobby Abreu RF
Torii Hunter CF
Vladimir Guerrero DH
Kendry Morales 1B
Howie Kendrick 2B
Juan Rivera LF
Jeff Mathis C
Erick Aybar SS

The Yankees need to put the Angels away tonight
