Yankees Mariners BaseballGame one of the ALDS between the Angels and the Yankees will feature John Lackey vs CC Sabathia. Lets take a look at this match-up and see who has the advantage. John Lackey was 11-8 with an ERA of 3.83 in 32 games he pitched 176 innings giving up 177 hits. He gave up 84 runs 75 earned and 23 by the way of the long ball. He also struck out 139

As for Carston Charles Sabathia he takes the mound having a regular season record of 19-8 with an ERA of 3.37. Sabathia started 34 games pitching 230  innings giving up 197 hits 96 runs 86 earned with 18 coming via home run, and he struck out 197

Lackey Pitched a brilliant game one against the Red Sox in the first round only allowing 4 hits. Sabathia in turn also was great against the Twins giving up only one earned run over 6.1 innings.

If you look at their regular season records one thing that stands out is that Lachey has given up more hits than innings pitched and tends to be subject to the long ball. This does not favor the Angels coming into the new Yankee Stadium with the short right field porch. Not to mention the fact that the Yankees hit home runs like no one else.

The Yankees and the Angels are the two best teams in the American league. The difference is that the Yankees are the Best team in baseball. Anything can happen in a short series but when it comes to the best of seven usually the better team prevails. This year the Yankees are that team.
