aaaa The Yankees accomplished everything in one swoop. With today’s 4-2  win over the Boston Red Sox the Yankees have clinched the AL East, won their 100th game, clinched home field advantage and clinched the Best record in baseball. Andy Pettitte was good going six innings giving up two Runs on seven hits with four strikeouts. The best news of all for the Yankees is that all of their pitchers are healthy and all are coming off good starts.

There are six more games remaining for the Yankees all of which are completely meaningless. Three against the Royals and then they will close the season against the Rays at Tropicana Field. You will probably see all the regulars get a day off or two over the next week. The only things they are playing for now is momentum and personal records. Teixeira is in need of only 2 HR to pass Carlos Pena for the most home runs in the American League. Derek Jeter is only 9 hits behind Ichiro for the most hits in the AL. Damon is only one HR away from having 25 on the season, a personal career high. Momentum will be important so don’t think for one minute the Yankees aren’t going to try and win every one of the remaining games , but don’t think they are taking any chances either.
