We wont talk to much about yesterday except to say that Mariano Rivera is Human and you can’t win them all. Mo blew the the save and took the loss as Ichiro Suzuki hit the walk off two run homer in the bottom of the ninth that sealed the Mariners victory. All day I have been receiving e-mails (ok there were only 2 ) asking why they didn’t walk Ichiro with a base open and 2 outs in the ninth inning. Ok here’s the simple answer, 1. You don’t put the winning run on base and 2. Mariano owns Ichiro who was only batting .200 against him. Nothing more to say except shit happens.

Today the Yankees have a shot at redemption as they face the Mariners in round two. With CC Sabathia taking the hill you have to like their chances. Here is a look at the line-ups

YANKEES (94-54)
Jeter SS
Damon LF
Teixeira 1B
Rodriguez 3B
Matsui DH
Swisher RF
Cano 2B
Cabrera CF
Cervelli C

Pitching: LHP CC Sabathia (17-7, 3.42).

MARINERS (77-71)
Ichiro RF
Gutierrez CF
Lopez 2B
Sweeney DH
Beltre 3B
Johjima C
Hall LF
Tuiasosopo 2B
Wilson SS

acuscore gives the Yankees a 65% chance of winning. That is the understatement of the day. Posada gets the night off  via suspension day 3.  Still no Gardner in CF what’s up with that. Melky has stunk the place up lately.

Tomorrow will be an afternoon game and the final game of the season verse the Mariners before they start a series against the Angels that probably isnt as meaningful as people make it out to be as the Yankees will still hold the edge on home field advantage even if they get swept.
