The Yankees take on the Blue Jays again tonight in the Bronx. The truth is that the game features two pitchers that should both be in the bull pen. Brian Tallet is the hurler for the Jays and Chad Gaudin for the Yanks. The bigger and more important news is that after the Rumble in the Bronx last night Posada will be suspended for 4 games. I personally think that this was a childish act by Posada to throw an elbow. If he wanted to get at the pitcher he should have charged the mound when Carlson threw behind him. A key player could have gotten hurt in that melee. Suppose Jeter breaks a hand trying to break up that fight? Where would the Yanks be then? Either way it is done and over with for now unless of course the Yanks or Toronto decide to throw at each other tonight.
The game is important as well. The Red Sox are on fire and have Matsuzaka back and he pitched lights out in his 6 innings of work last night. Boston is also only 6.5 games back in the AL East race. It is a comfortable lead for the Yankees but they play the Red sox 3 more times this year. Worse news for the Yankees is that Andy Pettitte will miss his start today (hence Gaudin). The Yankees are describing the problem with Pettitte as a fatigued shoulder. Hopefully everything is ok. The Yankees need to take tonight’s game from a morale stand point. Last night they were embarrassed on the scoreboard and need to bounce back.
Without further ado here are tonight’s Yankee Lineup:
Pitching: RHP Chad Gaudin (1-0, 3.42 with Yankees).
