jorgejacks The votes are in and its unanimous , Baltimore sucks. AJ Burnett has been struggling of late and tonight was no different as he gave up a ton of hits and earned himself a no decision as the Yankees went on to beat the Orioles 9-6.

Yankees on the mound:  Burnett was bad, he gave up six runs on 11 hits which included 2 HR. After his 5,1 innings the bull pen came in and does what it always does, shut them down. The combined efforts of Domaso  Marte, David Robertson, Phil Coke and  Mariano Rivera gave up 0 runs on 2 hits over 4,2 innings giving the offence a chance to do its magic.

Yankees at the Dish: Magic is what the Yankees bats had tonight. It was Home Run night for the Bombers as they got jacks from; Robinson Cano,Nick Swisher Eric Hinske and two from Jorge Posada. Derek Jeter got a hit in his 5th straight game and had two walks. Alex Rodriguez  had an RBI single and Melky Cabrera also went 2 for 4. Cano went 3 for 5 including his HR to make 10 multi  hit games against Baltimore this year.

Yankees on Deck: The Orioles will be back tomorrow for another beating this time at the hand of  CC. Sabathia who has not lost in August sense 2007. Jason Berken will pitch for Baltimore. He reminds me of John Smoltz with the Red Sox. He is 4-11 with an ERA of 6.33. In 91 innings he has served up 118 hits and 64 Runs. Should be like batting practice for the Bombers.

-This just in Baltimore will be holding open tryouts for their pitching staff ages 14-60 are welcome to apply. No Experience necessary.

– Sergio Mitre has been scratched from his Thursday start after being hit in the Forearm by a comebacker over the weekend. Chad Gaudin will start in his place.

-ESPN told The Associated Press  that the Sept. 27 game was returning to its original start time of 1 p.m. EDT. It had been changed to 8 p.m. to accommodate ESPN’s schedule; Yom Kippur, a day of fasting and atonement, begins at sundown that evening.

Shelly Duncan won the International League  MVP and Austin Jackson won the Rookie of the Year. Hopefully they will both get some time in Pinstripes with the expanded rosters.

Our Brain injured colleague Mike Genevosey will be back tomorrow with starting lineups, have a great night and don’t forget to follow us on twitter at Yankeesmagazine.
