The Yankees like everyone else drafted a lot of players. I could go through and tell you about every one of them but I assure you I don’t have the time to write it and you don’t have time to read it. What I will do is give you the goods on the top five.
5. Caleb K Cotham Caleb was the 165th overall pick in the draft. He is a right handed pitcher at 6’3 and 215 lbs. In 2008 Caleb went 7-6 with an ERA of 4.50. He was second on his team in strikeouts with 90. He has a heavy sinking fastball that hits 91-94 consistently with two other quality secondary pitches. He has proven a ton over the last year and had a good year in the Cape Cod league not allowing a run in 13 innings pitched. At 22 years old he has a world of talent and has signed for $675,000 with a $5000 signing bonus. Caleb was the steal of the draft for the Yankees. Originally slotted to go much higher a foot injury scared some teams off. Cotham should lay damage to the minor leagues when he starts and don’t be surprised to see him in the majors within the next couple of years.
Next up: #4 Adam Warren 135th overall pick
