The Rangers and the Yankees are one and two in HR’s in baseball. The Rangers have 83 and the Yankees 80. After just meeting in Texas last week they face off again ,this time in the new home run friendly Yankee Stadium. There has been a HR hit in every game played at the stadium this year and I’m going to make a bold prediction and say there will be a couple hit tonight.
Derek Jeter is on fire having hit in 15 straight games. Jeter also is at 1499 runs scored and if scores one tonight will be one of four in Yankee history to accomplish this feat, the others being Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle, and Lou Gehrig. Pretty good company if you ask me.
Mark Texieria has also been one of the hottest hitters in the MLB right now and is on a 14 game hitting streak. Since A-Rod has come off the DL Mark has been unstoppable and has pushed his average up to .282 with his eye on .300 this week and has 16 HR and 44 RBI’s. Here is tonight’s starting line up.
Derek Jeter SS
Johnny Damon LF
Mark Teixeira 1B
Alex Rodriguez 3B
Robinson Cano 2B
Jorge Posada C
Hideki Matsui DH
Melky Cabrera RF
Brett Gardner CF
Pitching: RHP A.J. Burnett (3-2, 4.78).
Burnett faced and dominated the Rangers in Texas going 6 innings and didnt give up an earned run and got the win .
Texas counters with RHP Vicente Padilla who is making his first start sence coming off the disabled list with a right shoulder injury.
Should be a good one as the Yankees look to extend their MLB record 18 straight games without an error and hope for a win and a Red Sox loss to go up 2 games in the AL East. For Boston they have Daisuke Matsuzaka
and his 0-2 record with an 8.82 ERA up against the Red Hot Detroit Tigers who lead the American league central with a record of 28-21.
