The Yankees will attempt to leave Texas with a series victory here are the starting line ups
Pitching: RHP A.J. Burnett (2-2, 5.28).
Pitching: LHP Derek Holland (1-1, 4.82)
Burnett has not been good lately lets hope tonight he can turn it around and get a win.
Last night because of the time of the game I was pretty much blogging to myself hopefully tonight you will all throw in some comments as the game progresses.
Update 8:50 Mark Texieria Homers (15)in the first inning with Derek Jeter on Base 2-0 Yankees. Then in the Second after Kevin cant hit Cash got a hit( I know right) Derek Jeter got an RBI double to left. 3-0 Yankees
Update 9:03 Burnett is dealing only 1 hit in the first three frames. If he can double that and make it 2 hits over 6. That would definately be the AJ the Yankees signed up for. Tex is 2 for 2 already extending his hitting streak to 10 games.
Note: The Blue Jays lost again 12-10 in 11 innings to Baltimore. Everyone was saying how for real Toronto was now after losing 10 in a row those people are surprisingly quiet.
9:22 Jeter has been red hot hes three for three and is going to crush his HR totals and RBI’s from last season. Twins are beating the Red Sox 3-1 in the fourth. If it hold the Yankees could have a share of first place by the end of the day. Yankees got something going second and third two outs as A-Rod just hit a double. Thats 7 of 11 for Arod in the series.
So much for that Cano Grounds out still 3-0 Yankees
Update 9:50 Top of the 6th Matsui puts one in the upper deck 4-0 Yankees.
With Swisher at first Brett Gardner bunts and Holland throws the ball away. It would have been a single anyhow. Swisher has to stop at third. Now its second and third nobody out. That will do it for Holland as the Rangers call to the Bullpen it will be Jason Jennings vs Kevin cant hit Cash
Cash hits a two RBI single and advances to second on the throw 6-0 Yankees still nobody out. The Yankees are running away with this one.
Update 10:03 Jennings after striking out Tex is comming out. 2 outs runners on 1st and 2nd A-Rod comming up. ohhh the drama of it all.Oh well he grounded out still 6-0 Yankees.
Burnett has been Great!!! 3 hits over 5 innings with 5 strike outs. Jones is the only one thats hit one really hard the rest were kind of excuse me hits. As I type this Damon just saved extra bases as he made a great catch and crashed into the wall. Luckily it was kind of a mesh like wall to I think hes ok.
Red Sox still down 3-2 in the 6th inning against the Twins
Update 10:27 Matsui hits his second HR of the night with Cano on Second 8-0 Yankees this game is all but a done deal.
Update 10:36 Burnett’s day is done. His pitch count was just getting to high. His Line was 6 innings 3 hits 0 runs 7 K’s . That’s what every pitcher dreams about. Jose Veras in to pitch and gave up a double to Saltys. Veras has not been good lately his ERA is up to 5.59 thats not good.
Ok this guy sucks he just gave Kinsler a cookie that he planted in the seats 8-2 Yankees . Oh I ment his ERA is 6.41 and he just walked someone. Hell with any luck his ERA may be 7 before the inning is over. All Hail Joe Girardi as he recognizes the previously stated as well, and is calling for Dave Robertson, who pitched a solid inning in last nights loss.
Update 11:13 Robinson Cano homers 9-2 Yankees. Kevin long gets to keep his job as the Yankees have cranked out 50 hits this series. Matsui walks and Berroa comes in to pinch run still nobody out in the ninth. How Berroa has not been DFA yet is a mystery to me. Matsui with his bad knees is about the only guy that he is faster than and he is not even a shell of the player that he was when he won rookie of the year back in 2003. You have to wonder how a player got so bad so fast. Maybe steroids I have heard a couple of people say that. What do you all think?
Yikes Benson Just beaned Cash in the back now the bases are loaded for Jeter who already had two hits tonight.
Jeter flies out and Berroa gets thrown out at the plate.
Wang came back and retired the ninth 1.2.3. and the Yankees win this one 9-2 moving into first place do to a Red Sox loss.
