The USA WBC team polished off the Netherlands 9-3 keeping their hopes of winning it all alive. Frankly if they hadn’t crushed them they would not have deserved to go any further. Roy Oswalt got the win pitching 4 scoreless innings and newly called up Brian Roberts of Baltimore went 3-3  with 3 RBI’s.  But the true MVP of the game was Jimmy Rolling Rock Rollins who had a HR  a triple and a sacrifice fly with 4 RBI’s. next up the USA will play the winner of the PR vs Venezuela game tomorrow night. In other WBC action Mexico and Korea are facing off and are tied at 2 in the third. So far its a sloppy game, its like watching AA ball with bad throws and booted balls.

They Yankees today made light work of the Twins 5-1  behind a stellar effort by Andy Pettite. Andy went three scoreless innings giving up two hits and recording one strikeout. Posada also went 2-2 with 2 runs scored.Posada played behind the plate today without incident. This is a relief for the Yankees and although they can’t yet put all their fears to rest Cashman should sleep easy tonight.

The bombers made some moves today,, none of them surprising, reassigning  IPK , Jesus Montero,Mark Melancon, Kevin Russo, and Christian Garcia to minor league camp. None of these players had a chance of making the 40 man roster. However their performances will determine who will  be at AA and AAA levels and who will be traveling down route DFA.

Over on the Yes Network blog they are still yapping about the 5th starter spot and should Joba be in the pen. This is a rediculous conversation that doesnt deserve much thought, but I will put in my two cents….. ummm   NO! Dicussion over.
